Egypt
We began our 2025 spring travels in Egypt. While volunteering at the Summer Olympics, I made a friend from Cairo, and as it goes with Egyptian hospitality, we were invited to visit him, his friends & his family in Cairo. We graciously accepted, and this led to one of our favorite months of travel ever.
Egypt has it all. We began in Cairo, visiting Samer & his friends. We were there to experience the beginning of Ramadan celebrations, which was a pleasant surprise. We did your typical ancient Egypt activities before heading south. We arrived in Aswan and were blown away. As we rode in our host boat to the little island we were staying on, we were completely amazed by the landscape. The sailing Feluccas and giant boulders made us feel like we were in Disney World.
Our trip continued north by boat, train & bus. A natural oasis on the outskirts of Luxor was our final stop. We enjoyed our last days in Egypt eating falafel, riding donkeys through the desert & befriending locals.
This 2025 trip led to a short but sweet visit to Dahab during our Turkish Airlines Million Mile Challenge. A small hippie town situated on the Red Sea that showed us a laid back side of Egypt we didn’t know existed. This three-day trip solidified our love for Egypt.
